Mainstream Publishers - A run in with a Deity from a Holy House for only the Ordained Few.

Early this month `Austrade' invited me to a `exporting culture' seminar. The speakers from that particular division gave some excellent advice which I will be following up.
Next to me sat the Head of A Large Publishing House. I gave her my propaganda for this site, which prompty vanished into a deep dark somehwere in the pockets if this Great Sentient Intelligence. After the seminar it was `meet & greet' where the One And Only was busy with her friend getting stuck into the hors deuvres, well lots of tiny pizzas, dim sims, spring rolls plus lubricating liquids to aid locquaciousness. But the Great One was not to be disturbed. Finally, on the way out I asked this Being From On High about the chance of doing an anthology. The Divine One looked at me as if I had jumped out of hyper-space and looking me up and down {my bowels froze for the first time], and in that dismissive tone that only The One Who Is All can inflict upon one said, icicles on every syllable: 'anthologies don't sell'. It had spoken to me. {I should have worn my sackcloth and ashes - unforgivable I know]. My second faux pas was to ask her for a contact card. Having already dismissed me for the worm that I was, the Great One Who Is Not To Be Approached, incised with terminal finality: `go to our website'.
Such wisdom is rare and your ignorant servant of the sewer then humbled himself upon his knees, eyes to the ground, crawling out backwards as is wont when within sight of The Supreme Intelligence, ended up - in the gutter.

This is the internet working at it's best. Well sort of anyway. One thing IS certain though, you won't get this sort of diversity everywhere. These writers are truly original.

These stories aren't more of the same. They all have something different to contribute: their headspace. Here imagination is running rampart, going into mental warps, or cruising through ambient realities at a more leisurely pace, a few in deep thought bringing their perspective with flair, revelling in exotic nuances, adventeruous with well written determination.

I want to thank them all for their ecclectic contributions. Writing is not the easiest of crafts which makes this venture even more pleasurable. I feel readers are being let down in a sense. The diversity IS there, it's here, and elsewhere. That is what makes the internet so vibrant.

Enjoy their fantasies, indulge your fantasies. It will make a better world and a brighter universe, even if some of these stories are dark and disturbing. If we negate this very human aspect then it will bite us in the bum! And then we will really be in big trouble. Or as the saying goes `up shit creek without a paddle'.

Repress the fantastic and reality will twist itself out of shape. It has happenend before in Europe in the 30's.

Well the repression is over, the future is in our hands - so let us indulge in writing, and create alternatives! For the greater the human perspective the more answers we have. We may even solve some problems along the way. And with our imagination that has no boundaries and knows no limits so too problems may even dissolve themselves into the hyper-phantoms that seemed so convincing. The power of our indivual expression will always soar above artifical restrictions for in the end, as a Hindu said to me once, `the universe is in our heads'. What we do with that is up to us.

And this is exactly what these authors have done.
